Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program

The Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program is a partnership between Campus Compact and Tyson Foods to provide an invaluable opportunity for select college students to gain professional experience while making a positive impact in our community.

The program provides full-time college students an eight-week paid summer job to assist community organizations and gain experience with diverse social issues. In the summer of 2022, the program will provide nonprofit organizations in the Chicago area, and Sioux City and Storm Lake, Iowa, and South Sioux City and Wayne, Nebraska, with a grant to hire a qualified college student for the summer.

Meet our 2022 partners!

What is Campus Compact’s role in the Tyson Foods Summer Job Program?

Each nonprofit is eligible to receive one grant of between $4,200 (based on the community) per application. Organizations can submit more than one application with different job descriptions for each one.

Can I treat the student as a contract employee/independent contractor?

No. Students will be treated as a salaried employee and subject to FICA and income tax withholdings. Please provide copy of first paystub to Iowa or Illinois Campus Compact for verification.

Will nonprofits be assigned a student?

No.  Participating nonprofits are required to hire their own student. Iowa and Illinois Campus Compact can help with the process to ensure you get the best possible student for your specific needs.
