Iowa Campus Compact seeking nonprofit partners for VISTA program

September 12, 2017

For immediate release, September 12, 2017: Iowa Campus Compact (IACC) announced today the opportunity for  community organizations (including nonprofits and governments) to apply to host VISTA National Service members.

Founded in 2007, the VISTA Program is expanding this year to include more opportunities for community organizations to receive full-time support from a national service member. The organization is specifically seeking nonprofits that work in the areas of education and economic opportunity and are interested in building and strengthening their community-campus partnerships.

Deadlines are available throughout the year for organizational applicants depending on the desired member start date. The first deadline is quickly approaching on Friday, September 22nd. Complete information about the program and application process is available here and you can read about our current members and their work here.

Nonprofit host sites have the ability to hire a college graduate with the skills to meet their needs and develop a capacity-building work plan. Iowa Campus Compact supports members through training and development and provides sites with opportunities for other capacity support, particularly in the area of higher education partnerships. There is a cost share match to sites.

Iowa Campus Compact is a statewide association of college and university presidents providing leadership for the civic mission of higher education. We strengthen the capacity of our public, private, and two-year institution members to prepare all students to become engaged citizens. IACC supports the integration of community service into the cultures of its member campuses by facilitating collaboration, sponsoring programs, advocating policy, and promoting public awareness. In support of the vision and mission, Iowa Campus Compact manages the Iowa College AmeriCorps Program and the VISTA Program through support from the Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
