Join us in November for the Greatest Keynote in the Universe

Registration is now open for the second annual Civic Action Academy!

This is a unique professional development opportunity for students interested in learning new ways of making a difference and building skills through civic and community engagement.

The event will be held November 9 and 10, 2018 at Drake University in Des Moines. Students from across the Midwest and beyond (undergraduate and graduate) are invited to learn from professional across sectors. Sessions will offer skill-building in civic action including philanthropy, nonprofit leadership, dialogue, advocacy and more. Students will also have a chance to learn what others are doing on other campuses and network with peers.

Mike Draper – Keynote for 2018 Civic Action Academy

Mike Draper owns RAYGUN, headquartered in Des Moines with locations in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Kansas City. It designs, it prints, it sells, and it employs about 60 people. RAYGUN has been called “The Greatest Store in the Universe” by RAYGUN.

Mike will talk about this entrepreneurial experience is going to be an emotional roller coaster. So pack Kleenex and and extra pair of socks (in case the pair you’re wearing get blown off). He’ll talk business, family, community, and the power of words on stuff.

Call for Student Session Proposals

Iowa Campus Compact is please to invite proposals from interested students in all disciplines to present at the Civic Action Academy. Presentations can be facilitated by individuals or a group. This is an opportunity for students at any stage of their academic career to share their work with their peers and academics.

The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, September 28, 2018. Applications can be submitted online.
