Iowa Campus Compact today welcomes two staff hired for positions designed to boost nonprofit partnerships and student opportunities through AmeriCorps programs. These positions reflect an increase in resources and an interest in community-campus partnerships as a vehicle for student education, civic engagement, and nonprofit capacity-building.
Carly Bahnsen joined Iowa Campus Compact as a Program Coordinator in September 2018. She works primarily to support our new Summer Reading Corps program and the Iowa College AmeriCorps Program (ICAP). She graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics. Carly is an avid Hawkeye fan who, prior to joining the IACC team, worked for her alma mater at the University of Iowa – Des Moines Programs. Outside of work, Carly enjoys traveling, spending time with her husband and two children, and doing anything outdoors.
Joseph Greene joined the Iowa Campus Compact team as our new VISTA Leader this week. He will work with our staff to support our VISTA Community Corps program and support our efforts to build the capacity of non-profits and support campuses-community partnerships. Originally from Ames, Joseph is a lifelong Cyclone fan. Joseph recently moved from Arizona where he was serving with State and National AmeriCorps and attending ASU’s MPA program. Joseph received his bachelors from BYU Idaho in business management. During the program he had the opportunity to open and operate a business for a semester. He also completed an internship in public relations and marketing at a local county hospital. While there he developed a love for work in the public sector. Joseph is excited to be back in Iowa being able to give back to his home state.
We will share more information about these projects and programs with our members and partners in the coming weeks. Please join us in welcoming these two outstanding, civic-minded professionals to our team!
