Iowa Campus Compact Welcomes 21 Nonprofits as Newest Partners

May 22, 2019

Iowa Campus Compact is pleased to welcome 21 Iowa nonprofit organizations as the newest partners in our mission to strengthen community-campus relationships. These organizations will serve as host sites for our Campus Compact AmeriCorps Summer Reading Corps program.

“Campus-community partnerships can’t happen without community,” said Iowa Campus Compact Executive Director Emily Shields. “Through this program, we are supporting community capacity, even when school is out for summer.”

Summer Reading Corps provides an opportunity for nonprofits in the state of Iowa to expand their reach to deliver reading programs to children, teens, and adults in their community. The program provides the agency with a nine-week, paid full-time AmeriCorps volunteer to deliver local summer reading programming. Organizations recruit members to serve, often working with Iowa Campus Compact members to engage current college students in a summer learning and work experience.
