Election engagement organizer position available

September 11, 2017

Iowa Campus Compact (IACC) is partnering with the Campus Election Engagement Project (CEEP) to support colleges and universities in Iowa with nonpartisan election engagement efforts. The two organizations are seeking a student organizer (either undergraduate or graduate) that will be charged with working to increase electoral engagement on Iowa campuses.

This work will include the following:

  • Working with campus students, staff and faculty to support efforts that increase student turnout
  • Integrating voter registration on campuses
  • Developing approaches and resources for greater faculty involvement
  • Creating templates for campus election websites
  • Supporting student government efforts
  • Tracking electoral participation

Most importantly, the organizer will work with IACC and CEEP to encourage and help provide guidance for campuses to empower their students to help lead the work.  Examples of how students can lead the charge are through the CEEP Fellows Program, Student Government Associate and other Student Life Groups.

The organizer will be paid $15 per hour along with support for travel and other resources. Most of the work would be remote and flexible and could vary from 10-20 hours per week. A successful candidate will have experience through leadership roles with campus voter engagement and organizing. This person must have the ability to visit campuses across Iowa when needed and the person hired in Fall, 2017 would be able to stay on at least through the academic year with the possibilities of continuing.

Applications should email a cover letter and resume to Emily Shields at eshields {at} iwcc(.)edu by September 30, 2017.
