Summer is a great time for college students to gain in-depth community experiences that prepare them for life, civic participation, and careers. They are also a time when communities need more support. See below for our summer of service opportunities.
Summer of Service
The Summer Reading Corps offers opportunities for nonprofits to expand their reach to deliver reading programs to children, teens, and adults in their community and unique summer work and learning experience for college students. The program provides the agency with a nine-week paid full-time AmeriCorps volunteer to deliver local summer reading programming.
The Tyson Foods Summer Community Internship Program is a partnership between Campus Compact and Tyson Foods to provide an invaluable opportunity for select college students to gain professional experience while making a positive impact in our community.
The program provides full-time college students an eight-week paid summer job to assist community organizations and gain experience with diverse social issues. The program is open to nonprofit organizations in Sioux City, Storm Lake, and Council Bluffs, Iowa with a grant to hire a qualified college student for the summer.
