Kara Trebil-Smith joined the Iowa Campus Compact team having spent more than five years in community engagement roles on Iowa college campuses. From 2008-2013, she served as the Director of Civic Engagement at Cornell College where she managed community engagement initiatives across campus, collaborated with students to develop ongoing community-campus partnerships, and served on the Iowa Campus Compact advisory board. She left Cornell to pursue a doctoral degree in higher education from the University of Denver, and is currently working on her dissertation research while serving as the Program Coordinator of Community Engagement at Coe College. Born and raised in Iowa, Kara received her Bachelor’s degree from Wartburg College and a Master’s of Education from the University of Northern Iowa.
Kara is working as a part-time contractor on research and evaluation projects.
