Compensation: $30,000-35,000 annually

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Program Coordinator will primarily coordinate the Iowa Campus Compact VISTA Community Corps. The program includes 12-20 members serving on college campuses and in community organizations and a VISTA Leader in the Des Moines office.

Related duties include:

  • Designing assessment systems and reporting models and compiling reports
  • Ensuring compliance with grant requirements and policies
  • Evaluating program results and implementing program improvements
  • Supporting and training members
  • Training and communicating with local site supervisors and conducting site visits
  • Designing promotional materials and conducting social and earned media outreach
  • Recruiting nonprofits to serve as AmeriCorps VISTA host sites and individuals to serve in AmeriCorps VISTA positions
  • Writing future grants and seeking additional funding
  • Coaching and collaborating with the VISTA Leader and coordinating with the Assistant Director, AmeriCorps Program Director and other AmeriCorps and VISTA programs

This person will also work with the IACC Executive Director to coordinate logistics for other IACC programs and events, edit materials and documents, and assist in overall fiscal management.

QUALIFICATIONS   

Successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant experience. Experience may include a combination of employment, internship and/or significant community service in a community-based learning environment, higher education, or a non-profit setting.

For this position, we are seeking a highly detailed-oriented person with an interest in project management, grant fiscal management, data, and evaluation. Experience in those areas is a must and it is preferred that the person have previous AmeriCorps VISTA service, particularly as part of a Campus Compact state affiliate program.

Other desired qualifications:

  • Experience with and knowledge of higher education in general and community engagement in particular
  • Experience with and knowledge of volunteer recruitment, retention, and training, and community organization capacity building
  • Strong writing ability and experience in successful grant writing
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative with proven organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience with necessary technology including Microsoft Office, web site management, webinar platforms and social media
  • Much have access to a personal vehicle for statewide travel
  • This position also requires successful completion of a criminal history background checks

ABOUT IOWA CAMPUS COMPACT

Iowa Campus Compact (IACC) is a statewide association of college and university presidents who are committed to fulfilling the civic purposes of higher education by educating students for active citizenship and building strong communities. This is accomplished by integrating community service, service-learning and community engagement opportunities into student’s academic and co-curricular activities.

IACC is a small staff of an Executive Director, Assistant Director, AmeriCorps Program Coordinator and VISTA Leader housed at the Iowa Center for Higher Education in Des Moines and a wider network of community engagement faculty and staff around the state. IACC administers two statewide AmeriCorps programs, other student and faculty programming, member conferences and professional development opportunities and other support for civic engagement and service-learning on our member campuse\s.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Long days around retreats and conferences.  Ability to travel cross-state by car.  Some days working primarily on computer in office.
